Blockchain technology is revolutionizing the way we interact with the world, and education is no exception. With its ability to ensure data security, transparency and verifiability, blockchain is transforming the way academic credentials are issued, stored and verified. This research, aimed to evaluate the adoption of blockchain technology in educational records management for Higher Education, focusing on the Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí as a case study. To address this problem, a survey directed to students of the Information Technology career, and an interview to the academic staff involved in the management of educational records were carried out. The methodology used in this research included the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, in order to obtain a holistic view of the different aspects related to the adoption of blockchain technology. The results obtained revealed that there are significant concerns regarding data privacy and security, which represents an important challenge for the implementation of blockchain-based solutions. Likewise, a positive perception was observed on the part of students towards the adoption of this technology, recognizing its potential benefits in terms of security and transparency. Indeed, the adoption of blockchain technology in educational records management offers an innovative and reliable alternative, overcoming the challenges present in the traditional system. This research contributes to the advancement of higher education, promoting modernization and adaptation to the demands of a globalized and technologically advanced world.
