Abstract

SUMMARY
Introduction
The undergraduate internship is a fundamental stage of medical training where the student puts into practice skills and attitudes acquired in previous cycles, and develops new ones in a real setting. Objective: Analyze the experience of nursing interns in their rotation due to hospitalization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method, intentional sample, 5 inmates from the Nursing Career participated. Results It was found that the participants increased their knowledge and skills in performing procedures, with the help of the infected PPE, applying direct care to positive covid patients, reinforcing their clinical reasoning capacity. For this, they mentioned having qualities and skills for a good performance, supporting the nursing staff during a pandemic, they reported having ambivalent feelings about this new stage to live. Conclusions. Prior to the internship, the students have high expectations about their direct care training, in addition, their performance before patients and the management of their emotions in a real setting.
