Bovine brucellosis is a disease of great importance due to its connotation in public health and the restrictions it represents for national and international trade. The objective of this work is to determine the general and individual seroprevalence of bovine brucellosis in the northern, central and southern areas of ManabÍ province, Ecuador. A cross-sectional epidemiological study was applied during the months of August to December 2018, for which 684 bovines were sampled from 66 ranches selected at random. For the diagnosis of the disease, two tests were used, a rapid and a confirmation test, Rose Bengal (RB) and competition ELISA (C-ELISA) respectively, a comparison of proportions analysis was performed to see if there were significant differences between zones. As a result, an individual seroprevalence of 1.75% and a prevalence of 9.09% of livestock was obtained. The highest seroprevalence was found in the northern area with 20% (p ≤ 0.05) in cattle and 5.46% (p ≤ 0.05), in cattle, values that differ significantly with that of the other areas. This study demonstrates the presence of brucellosis in all areas of the province and the high prevalence of livestock affected mainly in the north of the province Manabi.
