Virtual learning, technological gap in basic education in the face of COVID-19

Abstract

Education is one of the best inheritances that parents can leave their children, where the objective of this research is to know the technological gap that currently exists in basic education in the face of Covid-19 in Ecuador, this work is vital importance, due to the most critical points that the educational units had in the new teaching process for students, during the health emergency caused by the virus, the decree to close all educational institutions to prevent infections was given, this caused a change radical in education for teachers and students. The methods used were the theoretical methods such as Analysis - synthesis used to establish prior analysis to synthesize concepts and use them in the realization of the article also the empirical method of Bibliographic Review used for the collection of information such as: magazines, books and websites which contain information on the subject for the preparation of this article. The Ministry of Education took measures to provide online classes through educational platforms, this caused concern in teachers and some parents because many do not have the technological tools or knowledge of how to use the platforms, as a conclusion due to the The health crisis due to the Covid-19 virus, the modality of face-to-face study was changed at a virtual distance, denoting the lack of technological tools in homes and little knowledge of the use of educational platforms, concluding with a low rate of study in Ecuador.
