Population ageing is a phenomenon that affects various regions of the world, transforming the demographic structure and posing new challenges. Current trends indicate that population ageing requires an adaptation in public policies to guarantee the well-being of older people. Cuba is a phenomenon that has gained relevance in recent decades, making the country one of the oldest nations in Latin America. According to the Statistical Yearbook of Cuba (2023), the percentage of people over 60 years of age reached 25% of the total population, posing significant challenges for the country's health system and social policies. This research aims to evaluate local development initiatives in Alquízar, exploring their effectiveness and impact on the quality of life of older adults. P that limit the effectiveness and sustainability of the initiatives adopted in the municipality for the care of the elderly were identified, such as: the lack of financial resources, the lack of training of the actors involved and the need for greater visibility of the needs of the elderly. Through a mixed methodological approach combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, a comprehensive understanding of how these initiatives contribute to the well-being of the elderly population and what measures can be implemented to optimize their reach and effectiveness was obtained. A proposal is made for initiatives that strengthen and complement those already implemented based on the inclusive participatory criterion.
