El Rol de la Gonadotropina Coriónica Humana en la fisiopatología tumoral (Mecanismos moleculares de la ?-hCG en la progresión, invasión y metástasis de tumores).
Abstract
Cancer has become one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with statistics rising proportionally over time, attribute to the general aging of the population and poor personal habits. This has led to the search for specific markers that aid in the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of the disease, among which in the alteration of the levels of the beta subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin. This systematic review aims to establish the role this hormone plays in the progression, invasion, and metastasis of tumors. A systematic review of scientific databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar was conducted to obtain relevant information for the study. The research revealed the fact that the excessive presence of the hormone in a tumor environment leads to better proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of tumors when it binds to its LH/HCG receptor, activating ERK1/2 and MMP-2 signaling pathways.
