Abstract

This research refers to alternative hardware as it is for optional use, not all computers have certain functions, however, these devices allow a computer to be endowed with different characteristics and also get more out of its functionalities. It should be noted that it serves us both for educational use and for professional life, before this type of hardware was more used than today since computers were often very limited and did not allow to supply all the needs of the user, with the implementation of USB ports was greatly reduced in use. There are different types of expansion cards, each one for a specific need, these cards are connected in the expansion slots; among the most used we have the PCI, PCI EXPRESS and AGP. The main objective of this scientific research is to provide information about how these devices provide new features to our computers and the benefit of adapting them to our own. Nowadays, alternative hardware is very popular in its use, both for children and adults, the main methodology used was the bibliographic review. The result of the analysis carried out in this research was able to show that at present this technology has greatly contributed to users, therefore they have been very well received by them.
