This article analyzes the public policies implemented in Ecuador to prevent and combat gender violence, determining in the analysis if they have had a real impact on the problem in the country. To do this, the key concepts to understand this type of aggression and its relationship with social policies to counteract them, the government measures taken by the country in recent years, their effectiveness and results are described and analyzed. It has a logical documentary and historical methodology, since the research is based on bibliographic sources for the description of the appropriate elements, explaining them in a descriptive and critical way. As a result, despite implementing public and social policies in Ecuador to prevent and counteract gender violence, they have not been effective and efficient. Not having a real impact on the lives of thousands of Ecuadorian women, cases that often end in femicide. The policies implemented were characterized by allocating a budgetary cost for their implementation and poorly competent results to solve social problems. Focused in this way, the field of social assistance ends up producing a bureaucratization of public policies that do not lead to solving the problem.
