Abstract

Objective: To determine the emotional state of the UNESUM nursing interns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Materials and methods: an observational cross-sectional study was carried out in August 2020 in the Nursing career of the State University of the South of Manabͭ, with eighth and ninth semester students who are doing internships in the different unit’s hospital and community hospitals at the level of Zone 4 of the MSP. Results: Of the 20 students, who answered the google form, 85% said they had experienced fear, related to their safety during their hospital stay; symptoms related to burnout, 40% reported insomnia. Conclusions: The Burnout syndrome affected the emotional state of the inmates during the pandemic since the main symptom that occurs is insomnia, also good communication with the health personnel helped to have a development in daily activities.
