ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE IN EDUCATIONAL UNITS IN THE JIPIJAPA CANTON: CHALLENGES AND ADAPTATIONS

Abstract

Organizational culture is considered a very important resource in both private and public institutions. This paper aims to analyze organizational culture in the Jipijapa Canton's Public Education Units, identifying the challenges they have faced and the strategies implemented to adapt and strengthen them in the current educational context. A non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive design was used as a methodology, with a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative). A survey was conducted among representatives of educational institutions, using the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) tool in the context of the Jipijapa Canton's Public Education Units. The main results revealed that the predominant model was the traditional one, with characteristics of a hierarchical structure and defined guidelines. A representative percentage mentioned that decision-making varies among members. Likewise, among the challenges identified are a lack of internal communication, resistance to change, and a lack of resources. However, almost all respondents indicated that institutional values ??are aligned with their work activities, with room for improvement in their application. It was concluded that most educational units are making efforts to continue advancing their organizational culture alongside current scientific and technological advances. Challenges persist, such as improving communication and leadership, and promoting training that fosters more effective environments based on organizational culture.
